Waktu dia ngomongin kalimat ini, dia bisa saja baru terjaga, tetapi yang lainnya (anggota <strong><em>we</em></strong> lainnya) masih tidur. Jadi, kalimatnya juga makes sense kalau dinyatakan dengan Present perfect continuous.</p> <ul> <li><em>We have been sleeping for two hours. Or,</em></li> <li><em>We have been sleeping since two hours ago.</em></li> </ul> <p>Tetapi kalu dia ngomongin hanya dirinya sendiri, kalimatnya tidak pas kalau dinyatakan baik dengan <a href="../" rel="nofollow">present perfect</a>  maupun <a href="../../present-perfect-continuous-tense/" rel="nofollow">present prefect continuous</a>. </p> <ul> <li><em>I have slept for two hours. <strong> NOT OK</strong></em></li> <li><em>I  have slept since two hours ago. <strong>NOT OK</strong></em></li> <li><em>We have been sleeping for two hours. <strong>NOT OK</strong></em></li> <li><em>We have been sleeping since two hours ago.<strong> NOT OK</strong></em></li> </ul> <p>Dalam hal ini, kalimatnya sebaiknya dinyatakan dengan <a href="../../simple-past-tense/" rel="nofollow">simple past tense</a>.</p> <ul> <li><em>I  slept for two hours..</em></li> </ul> <p>Or, dengan <a href="../../past-perfect-tense/" rel="nofollow">past perfect tense</a>:</p> <ul> <li><em>I  had slept for two hours when I said that sentence.</em></li> </ul> <p> </p> Subjek kalimat ini adalah we dan si pembicara adalah bagian dari we. Tetapi kalu dia ngomongin hanya dirinya sendiri, kalimatnya tidak pas kalau dinyatakan baik dengan present perfect  maupun present prefect continuous. 

  • I have slept for two hours. NOT OK
  • I  have slept since two hours ago. NOT OK
  • We have been sleeping for two hours. NOT OK
  • We have been sleeping since two hours ago. NOT OK

Dalam hal ini, kalimatnya sebaiknya dinyatakan dengan simple past tense.

  • I  slept for two hours..

Or, dengan past perfect tense:

  • I  had slept for two hours when I said that sentence.

Kalimat dalam present tense juga sering digunakan ALREADY, khususnya dalam non-verbal sentence, misalnya:

    I’m already home.
    I’m done already.

Namun demikian, akan lebih baik kalau digunakan perfect tense:

    I’ve already been home.
    I’ve done it already.
