Perasaan, ketiga contoh kalimat ini sangat sederhana.

He was poor. (Dia (dulu) miskin).

She was a good dancer. (Dia (dulu) penari yang bagus).

They were friends. (Mereka (dulu) berteman).

Yang perlu diperhatikan di tensis ini adalah:

digunakannya be "was" dan "were" kalau kalimatnya berupa kalimat nominal (predikatnya bukan berupa kata kerja). Dan kalau predikatnya berupa kata kerja, maka gunakalah verb2.

kenapa atau kapan poin 1 digunakan? Ini sudah didiskusikan di posting di atas.

The HRD explained to all of us a few days before the course took place that if we missed the class, so we have to make a permission letter that approved by Division Manager and submit it to HRD.

1. HRD staff had told us a few days ago before the courses began that if we'll not attend the class, we must make a permission letter that approved by manager of division and submitted to HRD.

2. The meeting was cancelled because of mr.x is being sick and we'll announce about the meeting after he has recovered.

Brother, please help me to check whether my translation is true or false:
1. The HRD explained to all of us a few days before the course took place that if we missed the class, so we have to make a permission letter that approved by Division Manager and submit it to HRD.
2. The meeting has been postponed due to Mr. X is sick and we will inform you again after he recovering from illness.

Thank you.

Hi Agus,

If he were here now, he could help us solve this math problem.

He is not here now.
He can't help us solve this math problem.

PLUS, be WAS in American English tidak digunakan dalam kalimat pengandaian.

If he were here now, he could help us solve this math problem.

I FEEL bad I didn't come...

Similar dengan:

I KNOW what you did last summer.

I FELT bad I didn't come.

Di kalimat ini, MERASA BERSALAH-nya adalah in the past.
